An important part of being a musician is remembering why you wanted to play in the first place. It's easy to get caught up in how much work you are getting or how high you are sitting in your band or orchestra at school, but that isn't why you started playing in the first place, is it? Try and find ways to "recharge your batteries" musically from time to time. This weekend I am going with a friend to play duets at some nursing homes. It makes the residents SO HAPPY, and makes me feel really good, that spending an afternoon playing for them brought them so much happiness. Maybe you can volunteer to play at your church or synagogue. Or get out your old Disney books and play music that you used to love to play just to play.
